Tef Poe Continues to Expand His Influence Through Music, Media, and Culture

For more than a decade, St. Louis rapper, activist, and cultural leader Tef Poe has built a career that extends well beyond music. Known for blending thoughtful lyricism with community advocacy, the Ferguson native has become one of the Midwest’s most recognizable voices in hip-hop and social justice.

Today, Tef Poe is adding another chapter to his evolving career through ‘Lemme Ask You This,’ a podcast he co-hosts with legendary Brooklyn emcee Talib Kweli. The show has established itself as a platform where artists, activists, comedians, writers, and entrepreneurs engage in candid conversations about music, politics, culture, and the creative process.

Unlike many interview programs that focus solely on entertainment, the podcast explores the ideas behind the headlines. Episodes have featured guests such as Dave East, Mickey Factz, Jessica Care Moore, Blu & Exile, Godfrey, Cipha Sounds, and Aja Monet, with Tef Poe helping guide conversations about artist ownership, independent music, community organizing, and the future of hip-hop.

Long before podcasting became part of his résumé, Tef Poe earned national recognition as both an artist and organizer. Following the events in Ferguson, he emerged as one of the country’s most visible advocates for racial justice while continuing to release music reflecting the realities of his community.

His recent musical work and collaborations continue to demonstrate his commitment to independent artistry and authentic storytelling. Rather than measuring success solely through commercial charts, Tef Poe has focused on creating meaningful art, building community, and encouraging creative independence.

For St. Louis, Tef Poe remains an important cultural ambassador. Through music, media, and public dialogue, he continues to showcase the city’s vibrant hip-hop scene while collaborating with nationally respected artists and creators.

As ‘Lemme Ask You This’ continues to grow alongside his music career, Tef Poe represents a generation of artists who understand that culture is shaped not only through songs but through meaningful conversations, collaboration, and leadership.
