Indiana Rome and iluvyouvega Build on Years of Chemistry With Weekend With Me
The St. Louis artist and producer has built a career around soulful production, sharp songwriting and collaboration. Now based in Atlanta, Indiana Rome is reconnecting with longtime collaborator iluvyouvega for a project that brings those strengths together.
Indiana Rome (@indianarome) has always sounded like an artist who understands both sides of a record.
There is the rapper—the confident voice, conversational delivery and ability to settle comfortably into a pocket without forcing the moment. Then there is the producer, listening to everything surrounding that voice: the chords, drums, bass, arrangement and atmosphere necessary to make a song feel complete.
That combination has helped distinguish Rome throughout a career connected closely to St. Louis hip-hop. Born with roots in Indianapolis, established musically in St. Louis and now based in Atlanta, Rome’s path has taken him through several cities without separating him from the scene that helped establish his identity. His artist biography describes him simply as an artist, producer and MC “repping St. Louis by way of Indianapolis,” with soulful chords and heavy 808s serving as central ingredients in his sound.
That description may be one of the simplest ways to understand Indiana Rome.
An Artist Behind the Boards
Rome’s ability as a producer has never been secondary to his work as an MC.
His 2015 album DD2: Dope Dealer 2 provided an early example of how naturally those roles could coexist. The project balanced harder rap records with melodic and soulful elements, providing space for singers and collaborators including Theresa Payne, Bryant Stewart and Vega Heartbreak.
More than a decade later, that same instinct remains present.
Rome’s music often develops from the foundation up. As both artist and producer, he has the ability to shape not only what is being said on a record but the environment surrounding the lyrics. Rather than remaining locked into the sound of one period of St. Louis rap, Rome has continued refining his approach.
Rome and Vega: A Collaboration More Than a Decade in the Making
One of the constants throughout that evolution has been iluvyouvega, also known as Vega Heartbreak.
Their connection is important because Weekend With Me is not the product of two artists being paired together for a quick collaborative release. Rome and Vega have been making music together for more than a decade.
Vega Heartbreak appeared on Rome’s DD2 in 2015, including the songs “Woah Woah” and “Rolling.” That history gives their current work a different character.
The strongest musical partnerships tend to develop a shorthand. One artist knows when another needs space. A producer understands where a vocalist naturally sits. An MC knows when the record needs another verse and when it would be better served by melody.
Rome and Vega have had years to develop that familiarity.
Their more recent run demonstrates how productive the partnership has become. “Ahead of the Curve” brought the two artists together again in 2025, while “Flowers” continued the collaboration in 2026. Rome’s more recent work with Vega further points toward a partnership that has grown beyond the occasional guest appearance.
It has become a body of work.
Weekend With Me
That body of work now leads to Weekend With Me, the forthcoming collaborative project from Indiana Rome and iluvyouvega.
The two have been revealing the project gradually rather than introducing it all at once, giving listeners glimpses of music that represents years of creative familiarity between the pair.
For Rome, the project feels like the opportunity to finally demonstrate what all of that preparation has produced.

The basketball comparison is fitting. Rome is not presenting Weekend With Me as the beginning of the work. He is describing it as the moment when years of practice, experimentation and creative development finally meet opportunity.
That distinction matters.
Rome and Vega are not approaching the project as artists still searching for their sound. Their history together has given them time to understand what each brings to a record. Weekend With Me becomes an opportunity to concentrate that chemistry into a complete project.
Songs associated with the collaboration—including “Flowers,” “Pretty Lies,” “First Date,” “DND” and “Ahead of the Curve”—point toward a project centered on attraction, relationships, romance and the situations that develop around them.
Rather than approaching those themes solely through conventional R&B, Rome and Vega occupy the musical space where their talents overlap: melody, rap, soul and contemporary hip-hop production.
For Rome particularly, that terrain plays directly to his strengths.
He can build enough weight underneath a song for it to remain unmistakably hip-hop while leaving enough room for melody and emotion to move the record somewhere else.
St. Louis Roots, Atlanta Chapter
Rome’s career has also expanded geographically.
After relocating to Atlanta, Rome entered another chapter of his career, but the move did not erase the musical identity he developed through years of work within St. Louis hip-hop.
He continues to collaborate with artists connected to the city and remains associated with the community that helped establish his name.
Calling Indiana Rome a St. Louis artist therefore remains appropriate.
Atlanta may be where he currently lives and works, and Indianapolis is part of where his story begins, but St. Louis is where much of the artistic identity associated with Indiana Rome was developed.
More importantly, his music continues to reflect relationships created during those years—including the one now at the center of Weekend With Me.
The Producer Makes the Artist Stronger
What ultimately makes Rome interesting is not simply longevity.
It is versatility.
There are plenty of rappers who eventually learn production and plenty of producers who occasionally rap. Rome has spent much of his career treating the two disciplines as parts of the same creative process.
That perspective becomes especially valuable on a collaborative project.
With iluvyouvega, Rome is working with someone who already understands his musical instincts. Their history extends from records made more than a decade ago to new music arriving in 2026.
